How to Assemble Your Offset Umbrella
Follow the sequence carefully while you assemble your Outsunny 8’x8′ Square Patio Hanging Offset Umbrella.
Step 1 – Assemble the Base & Install the Support Pole

- Place Upper Track Rail A on the ground, then position Lower Track Rail B across it to form an “X” cross-base structure.
- Align the center slots of both rails so they interlock correctly and sit evenly on the floor.
- Position the Round Rotating Base Plate (G) on top of the cross-base, making sure all bolt holes line up.
- Insert the M8×20 Bolts (D) with Washers (F) through the base plate and into the cross rails, tightening them securely.
- Place the Main Support Pole (C) vertically onto the base plate, aligning its mounting holes with the plate.
- Insert the M8×14 Bolts (E) with Washers (F) into the pole’s mounting points, tightening them using the Allen Key (J) to lock the pole firmly in place.
Step 2 – Install the Locking Collar & Add Base Weights

- Slide the Locking Collar (H) down onto the support pole and ensure it sits securely in the designated groove.
- Tighten the collar to stabilise the upper pole assembly before adding the umbrella arm later.
- Place heavy base weights (minimum 80 kg total) onto the cross-base arms as shown in the diagram.
- Use weight slabs designed for cantilever umbrellas (sand, water-filled, or concrete) to ensure proper safety.
- Position the weights evenly on all four arms to prevent tipping or uneven load.
- Double-check that the entire base remains stable before proceeding to the next step.
Step 3 – Install the Umbrella Assembly (I) and Lock It in Place

- Lift the Umbrella Assembly (I) and slide its lower mounting tube down onto the support pole until it reaches the stop point.
- Align the side holes on the umbrella assembly with the holes on the support pole.
- Insert the Safety Locking Pin (L) (shown in Step 1 image but used here) if required by your version, ensuring the canopy assembly is secured.
- Tighten the two Locking Knobs (M) on the side of the pole to fully secure the umbrella assembly in position.
- Once locked, gently pull the umbrella arm outward to ensure it moves freely and is properly seated.
- Begin unfolding the canopy by rotating or pulling the arm outward as shown, ensuring the fabric does not snag while opening.
Step 4 – Lift & Align the Umbrella Before Opening

- Push the umbrella assembly upward about 35 cm to release tension and allow the ribs to loosen.
- Gently shake the canopy as shown to ensure the umbrella ribs (“bones”) are not twisted or caught together.
- Check that each rib begins to spread naturally and none are overlapping or bent.
- Hold the umbrella arm with one hand and guide the canopy fabric lightly to prevent snagging.
- Confirm the slider mechanism is fully engaged on the pole and moves smoothly when lifted.
- Insert the Safety Pin (L) into the designated hole if required to lock the position before cranking.
Step 5 – Open the Umbrella & Lock It Into Position

- Rotate the crank handle downward toward the OPEN direction to fully extend the canopy.
- Continue turning until the umbrella fabric becomes fully stretched and the ribs are fully opened.
- Once open, check that all ribs are straight and the canopy sits evenly without twisting.
- Move the handle upward to the STOWED AWAY position when you want to close or secure the umbrella.
- Ensure the Safety Locking Pin (L) remains correctly aligned within the mechanism, keeping the tilt and height stable.
- Inspect the umbrella once more to confirm smooth operation and secure locking before regular use.
Care & Maintenance Tips
- Clean the canopy fabric with mild soap and lukewarm water.
- Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals that may weaken fibers.
- Regularly check screws and knobs for tightness, especially after windy days.
- Store indoors during storms or winter seasons.
- Lubricate moving parts lightly if operation becomes stiff.
Troubleshooting

- Check that all base weights are evenly distributed (min. 80 kg).
- Inspect screws at the pole base and retighten if needed.
Crank feels stiff
- Ensure the ribs aren’t twisted.
- Lightly lubricate the crank mechanism.
Umbrella rotates or moves in the wind
- Never use it during strong winds.
- Add heavier weights or anchor the base to improve stability.

FAQs
1. Why does my umbrella make noise when rotating or turning?
This usually happens when dust or sand collects in the rotating base plate. Wipe the joint area clean and apply a very light lubricant to reduce friction. Avoid over-lubricating, as excess oil can attract dirt.
2. What can I do if the canopy fabric sags in the middle?
Sagging is often caused by uneven rib alignment or fabric settling after the first few uses. Fully close the umbrella, gently straighten each rib, then reopen it. Allowing the fabric to dry completely after rain also helps tighten the canopy.
3. My umbrella feels hard to lift before opening. Is this normal?
If the upper assembly is difficult to lift, check whether the locking collar is too tight or slightly tilted. Loosen it gently, realign the pole, then retighten. Lifting becomes smoother once the pole is perfectly upright.
